Model Railroad Club of Toronto 85th Anniversary show
*The event has already taken place on this date: Sun, 02/26/2023
Model Railroad Club of Toronto celebrates its 85th Anniversary with new scenes and architecture.
Since 1938 the Club has welcomed thousands of visitors to Canada's premier O scale model railroad. From its start in Harry Ebert’s basement, the Club moved to Union Station, Liberty Village, and now resides in East York.
Inspired by the Central Ontario Railway, the railway captures the flavour of Central Ontario including industries and natural features, and by naming passenger cars after towns along the original route.
The Club appeals both to a child’s sense of wonder and discovery and an adult’s interest in technology, artistry and history. Trains pass through cities, towns and countryside of the Central Ontario Railway, popping in and out of tunnels and crossing over bridges. Visitors can explore innovations in techniques from hand-crafted models to 3D printing. The club uses true-to-life (prototypical) switching, signals and dispatching of passenger and freight trains, which are controlled digitally, and connected with wifi.
